What Suffering Uncovers

Suffering is one of the few experiences we all understand, though each person carries it for different reasons. Some are worn down by silent battles with their bodies or with those around them. Some are angry at their fate, grieving the life they never chose, and resentful of the circumstances forced upon them. Others carry losses, longing, and heartbreak that remain invisible to everyone else.

Why are we subjected to such suffering? While a definitive answer may always elude us, one truth remains clear: suffering does not have to be meaningless. This isn't because pain itself is inherently good, but because of what it forces us to confront. It presents us with a profound choice. It invites us to accept what we cannot change, and more importantly, it reveals our deep capacity to endure.
