Sensitive Souls

Maria experiences the world with unusual intensity, a heightened sensitivity that makes everyday life difficult to navigate peacefully. She senses the motives of others and perceives even subtle offenses or insults, yet is often unfairly labeled as paranoid or overly sensitive.

She explains that she has always felt things deeply — the highs are exhilarating, but the lows can be crushing. For someone sensitive, everything strikes harder: sounds, tastes, and especially emotions. Between those extremes lives a constant anxiety, a feeling of being diminished, and, at times, depression.

Yet sensitivity is also a form of endurance. Those who feel deeply are often forced to confront suffering more intimately, but over time they learn to absorb life's hardest shocks and continue forward without lasting damage.
