Scars and Shadows

"It's normal to go through hard times," she whispered to me. Right then, I could tell her scars hadn't completely disappeared—they were still there, but not as painful as before.

She kept speaking: "We're more than the tough things we've been through. Our scars show up in how we live and who we are."

What she didn't seem to realize was just how deeply those scars had shaped her—how they had become both her protection and her bridge to others.
